Shopping From Trusted Foreign Stores: A Halal-Friendly Checklist
Global stores open a huge catalogue to shoppers in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the rest of the Gulf. The choice is wonderful, but it also means more decisions: is the seller real, is the item permitted, and is the way you pay free of interest? This checklist keeps those questions short and practical.
1. Start from the official store
Open the store from its official website or app, or from our store pages such as AliExpress, FARFETCH and SHEIN. Avoid copy sites that offer prices far below everyone else, and never pay by bank transfer to a private account.
2. Check the product itself
- Skip anything that is impermissible to buy: alcohol and its accessories, gambling products, and items with indecent images.
- For clothing, read the fabric and length in the product details and look at customer photos, not only the model photo.
- For food, supplements and cosmetics, read the ingredient list. Look for gelatine and alcohol sources, and prefer products with a clear halal statement.
3. Pay without interest
The cleanest option is to pay the full amount at once with a debit card, Apple Pay or a credit card you settle in full before any interest is charged. Avoid instalment plans that add interest or late fees. If you are unsure about a plan, pay in full.
4. Know the full cost
Before you pay, compare the final total: shipping, customs duties and VAT can change the picture. Many global stores show duties at checkout; if they do not, budget for them.
5. Use a code or a tracked link
Some foreign stores have public codes. On Trip.com, for example, Trip.com's official promo page lists TRIPFLIGHT26 for new users (up to USD 15 off the first flight order) until 31 Dec 2026. Others, like FARFETCH, work through a link with no code: open the store from our page and shop as usual.
6. Keep your records
Save the order confirmation and screenshots of the product page until the return period ends. They make returns and disputes simple.
Codes, discounts and terms can change at any time. Always check the store's terms at checkout before you pay.
